POV: rain on a cabin window at 2 AM
Twenty-eight seconds of rain running down a dark cabin window, soft lights blurred behind it. It’s a taste of our 8-hour rain video, cut for a phone screen.

What it is
A vertical YouTube Short taken from the same scene as our 8-hour rain on a cabin window: rain on glass at night, a few warm lights out of focus in the background, and that close, ticking sound of drops on the pane. It is made to stop you scrolling for half a minute, take a breath and notice how much calmer you feel with rain in your ears.
How to use it
A Short on its own won’t carry you through the night: it loops, and the loop point is easy to hear. Use it as a check. If this 28 seconds feels good, start the full 8-hour video on a speaker across the room, or play rain for free in our browser sound player with a sleep timer. Headphones bring out the close detail of the drops, but for a whole night a speaker at low volume is more comfortable.
For the screen, the full video goes dark after five minutes. On a phone, it helps to know how to keep sounds playing with the screen off.
Best for
A quick reset at your desk, a moment on the bus home, or deciding whether rain is your sound before you commit to a full night of it. If you’re still choosing, our rain sounds guide covers soft rain, heavy rain and storms.
Sound design note
The footage is real stock video of rain on a window. The sound is not the camera’s audio: it is generated by SleepBetter’s own sound engine, the same procedural rain as the long version, mixed a little closer so the individual drops come through on phone speakers.
