Heavy rainforest rain, a 30-second reset

“Close your eyes. It’s pouring in the rainforest.” Twenty-six seconds of heavy, warm rain on broad leaves, with mist hanging in the trees.

What it is

A vertical cut from the same scene as our 8-hour tropical forest downpour: a rainforest under a heavy shower, slowed down and colour-graded for a phone screen at night. Two short lines of text open it, then it is just rain. There is no thunder, no music and no voice.

How to use it

Use it as a pause, not as your sleep sound. Put the phone down or close your eyes, and let your breath slow while the rain covers everything else for half a minute. Heavy rain is dense, so on headphones keep the volume lower than feels natural at first. If it works for you, the long version plays the same kind of rain for eight hours with a screen that goes dark by five minutes in, which is a better fit for the whole night.

Best for

A reset between tasks, a busy commute, or finding out whether you like heavy rain before you try a full night of it. Our heavy rain sounds guide explains when a thick, loud rain helps (busy streets, thin walls) and when a softer one like rain on a cabin window is kinder. You can also play rain in the browser with a timer in our free sleep sound player.

Sound design note

The rain you hear is not the stock clip’s own audio. It is generated by SleepBetter’s own sound engine rather than recorded, so it never carries traffic, voices or birdsong from wherever the footage was filmed.

How this was made

Footage: real stock video of a rainforest in the rain (Mixkit), slowed and colour-graded by SleepBetter. Audio: rain generated by SleepBetter’s own sound engine. No AI-generated picture or voice.
